Carlos Alberto Gonçalves Pires is a Senior Consultant with Portal Commerce & Logistics specializing in the areas of waterborne transportation, port and port terminal operations, and the logistics of natural gas and petroleum transportation. Carlos has more than 10 years of experience in international transportation logistics, project management, and consulting in a variety of Latin American and North American locations. He worked for many years in the United States as a Senior Analyst with American Commercial Barge Lines (ACBL), and as a Senior Natural Gas Analyst for the British Petroleum (BP) Atlantic Basin LNG project in Trinidad and Tobago.

In addition to his position with Portal Commerce & Logistics, Carlos serves as a Regional Director for Serviços de Recursos de Emprego SUD (SRE) a for-profit organization offering work force development, professional recruitment, and training services for professionals the North and Center-West regions of Brazil. In addition to his numerous professional certifications, Carlos received an MBA degree from Brigham Young University and a bachelors degree in nautical sciences from the Escola de Formação de Oficias de Marinha Mercante (Merchant Marine Academy) in Belém do Para, Brazil.
