John
Cuttino, President, co-founded Portal Commerce &
Logistics in 2003. He has more than ten years experience in Brazil,
having worked for the U.S. Embassy in Brasília, the World Bank, the
Brazilian Government, and the Organization of American States (OAS).
John has extensive academic, research and consulting experience in
the areas of international transportation logistics and trade and
several sectors of the Brazilian economy.
Since March 2006, John has
served as the Brazil Country Representative for the Port of Houston
Authority (PHA). As the principal responsible for executing Portal’s
PHA contract he serves as liaison between the Port of Houston
Authority and Brazilian port authorities, terminal operators,
government officials, and leading companies in the private sector.
John has participated in
numerous studies and projects on behalf of clients in the public and
private sectors including, the World Bank, the Organization of
American States (OAS), the Texas Center for Transportation Research,
the U.S. Department of State, the Esquel Foundation, the Joaquim
Nabuco Foundation, and the Center for Regional Planning and
Development (CEDEPLAR) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He
has authored and co-authored numerous articles in academic journals
covering subjects including transportation infrastructure, the
logistics of soybean transportation, economic impact methodologies,
trade corridors, and the petrochemical industry.
Mr Cuttino received his
Bachelor of Arts in History and Latin American Studies from Tufts
University, and a dual Masters degree in Latin American Studies and
Public Affairs from the Tereza Lozano Long Institute of Latin
American Studies and the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs
at the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, John is a Ph.D
candidate at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.
